Road To Riches handed Down Royal aim

Dual Grade 1-winning chaser Road To Riches is likely to bid for a second victory in the JNWine Champion Chase at Down Royal, after pleasing connections on his comeback at Gowran Park.

The Noel Meade-trained nine-year-old hasn’t hit the heights of his peak 2014 form which saw a wide-margin win in the Galway Plate, followed up by success in the JNWine Champion Chase and Lexus Chase before finishing third in that season’s Cheltenham Gold Cup.

He was on somewhat of a recovery mission when lining up in the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran last Saturday, and whilst no match for the impressive winner Ballycasey, pleased his trainer Noel Meade.

“He’s good, he came out of the race great.”

“We were delighted with how he ran. He jumped a lot better than he did in Galway and while he was a long way behind your man (Ballycasey), we were happy.”

“We didn’t want him to have a bad experience like he had the time before and he didn’t have a hard race. All going well he’ll go up north to Down Royal.”

One of many racing enthusiasts around the globe, love both flat and national hunt racing. Part-own a racehorse, and used to be involved in a couple of slow greyhounds around the Romford circuit. Favourite NH horses would be; Kauto Star, Denman, Challenger Du Luc, Monsignor, Guitar Pete, Harchibald, Istabraq - the list is effectively endless.... @OHRacing Google+
