Novice Chasing for The New One

Nigel Twiston-Davies revealed today that Champion Hurdle regular The New One will embark on a novice chasing campaign on his return to the track.

The Grade 1 winning hurdler has reportedly been showing plenty of zest in schooling sessions at home, and it is thought he can take a major hand over the larger obstacles this season.

Fourth to Annie Power in the 2016 Champion Hurdle, The New One was once again expected to be aimed towards the Champion Hurdle, although whispers of a World Hurdle campaign were doing the rounds in certain circles.

However, it seems connections are going to give their star gelding a try over fences instead.

“We’re actually going to run him in a novice chase” said Twiston-Davies. “I don’t know where yet but I’m keen on it.”

“We didn’t think we were going to go over fences but we thought we’d try him and his schooling has been brilliant. As soon as the ground is right and we find the right race he’s ready to go.”

He is currently best priced 25-1 for the Arkle Chase with 888Sport, Coral, and BetVictor and 20-1 with SkyBet and BetVictor for the JLT Novices’ Chase.

One of many racing enthusiasts around the globe, love both flat and national hunt racing. Part-own a racehorse, and used to be involved in a couple of slow greyhounds around the Romford circuit. Favourite NH horses would be; Kauto Star, Denman, Challenger Du Luc, Monsignor, Guitar Pete, Harchibald, Istabraq - the list is effectively endless.... @OHRacing Google+
